What Is Detroit Game Night?

Detroit Game Night is a live game show league for Detroit schools. Student teams go head-to-head in trivia, brain teasers, and hilarious physical challenges, and every game is streamed live for the whole city to watch.

Think of it as a school sports season, but the sport is a game show.

The Short Version

School vs School

Teams from Detroit middle and high schools battle for their school, their division, and bragging rights all season long.

Brains and Bodies

Trivia and math one round, Swinging Bananas the next. Some games test what you know. Others make you move.

Streamed Live, Free

Every single game is broadcast live. Families, classmates, and fans watch from anywhere, for free.

Money Goes Back

Local businesses sponsor and viewers donate. The money goes to the students who compete and to their schools.

How a Game Night Works

  1. 1

    Two teams take the floor

Each game night matches up teams from two schools in the same division, with a host running the show.

  2. 2

    Round after round of games

Teams rotate through brain games, Minute to Win It challenges, and relays. Every round is worth points.

  3. 3

    The audience plays along

Viewers watch the stream, vote on games, play intermission trivia, and donate in real time.

  4. 4

    Standings update

The final score goes into the league standings. Wins stack up over the season.

  5. 5

    The money goes back

Sponsor money and donations go to the students who played and to their schools. Schools also race all season to see whose community raises the most.

38 Games and Counting

Not every game is a quiz. The lineup mixes knowledge, speed, teamwork, and pure silliness, and some games even put real cash on the line.
