The idea

A school sports season, but the sport is a game show

Schools

Detroit schools each send a team of students.

Game shows

Teams face off in trivia, brain games, and silly physical challenges.

Livestream

Every competition is streamed live and free, so families and the city can watch.

How it works

Four steps

  1. 1

    Schools sign up

A school joins the league and picks a staff lead.

  2. 2

    Students form teams

Each school puts together a group of students to compete.

  3. 3

    Teams compete live

School vs school game shows, streamed for the whole city.

  4. 4

    The money goes back

Sponsor money and donations go to the students who play and to their school.

The games

38 games across 7 categories

Some test what you know, some make you move, and some put real cash on the line.

Where the money comes from

Local businesses and the community

Business sponsors

Local businesses sponsor games, teams, or a whole season. Their name is on the stream, the scoreboard, and the website.

Donations

Viewers, parents, alumni, and neighbors donate during the livestream and on the website. Donations show up live on screen.

Where the money goes

Back to the students and their schools

Sponsors + Donations
The students who compete
Their school

The students who show up and play earn money for themselves. Their school gets funding too.

The second competition

The school donation race

Off the stage, schools also compete to raise the most. A live leaderboard tracks which school's community gives the most, all season long.

Example only. It gets alumni, parents, and neighborhoods rallying behind their school.

Students run the show

Real production jobs, on a real live broadcast

Students who aren't competing help produce the stream. They learn media skills by doing them live.

Camera

Run cameras on the floor and in the crowd.

Switching

Cut between shots live, like a TV control room.

Graphics

Run scoreboards, lower thirds, and donation trackers.

Audio

Mic the host and players, run music and sound cues.

Social

Clip highlights and post them while the show is on.

Stage crew

Set up each game, reset props, keep the show on time.
